red carpet: EMMA STONE

images via google - sources welcome!

do any of you watch the fashion police on E News? (I promise I don't watch it often, I just find Joan Rivers hilarious) anyway they got me thinking about Emma Stone and how much I absolutely love her style.

In the photos above she's wearing: Giambattista Valli > Bottega Veneta > Calvin Klein

She totally nailed each look and I can't wait to see how her style evolves in 2012

beauty: new lip trend

photos via fashionologie

Spotted during Paris Fashion Week 2011 at the Junko Shimada show - combines the classic red with a bright fuchsia that really pops ~~ I dig it...

" To replicate, use an angled brush to apply an orange-ish red just to the outer edge of the lips, then gently fill the center of lips with a vibrant fuchsia. Use a finger to gently blend the line outward. Keep the chic look by choosing lip colors of similar vibrancy and opaqueness, and be sure to leave the rest of the face minimal." - Christina Perez @ Fashionologie

recipe: candy cane spider

recipe and image via spicy icecream

After the holidays I inevitably have an insane amount of candy canes laying around. Probably because at every store and restaurant that gives them out I stuff them in my purse to "save for later" ;) ...This is a perfect, delish recipe to use those leftovers for.

No-Churn Candy Cane Ice Cream
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract (or to taste)
  • 2 tbsp white creme de cacao (optional)
  • 2 cups cold heavy cream
  • crushed candy canes (6 regular sized)

Stir together condensed milk, vanilla, peppermint and white creme de cacao in a medium bowl. In a separate bowl or in a stand mixer, beat cream on high until stiff peaks form. With a rubber spatula, gently fold whipped cream into condensed milk mixture. Stir in crushed candy canes and pour into regular size loaf pan. Freeze until firm, for about 6 hours or overnight. (Keeps up to 1 week in freezer!)

Candy Cane Spider

  • crushed candy canes, extra, to line rim
  • glucose syrup or honey
  • 2 scoops candy cane ice cream
  • 15 ml white creme de cacao (optional)
  • lemonade (or sprite) to top up

Rub a small amount of glucose syrup or honey around the rim of a tall glass with your finger. Place crushed candy canes onto a plate and press rim of the glass into the candy. Place 2 scoops of candy cane ice cream into the glass. Pour over creme de cacao and top up with lemonade - serve immediately and enjoy!

latest favorite manicures

all photos are my instagrams

If you follow me on twitter you probably know I'm a little OCD about my nails. My sister and I love experimenting with new designs + whatnot. I've gotten a lot of questions on the "half moon" trend that I always do - it's so simple!
  1. paint full nail with a lighter color base coat.
  2. let dry completely.
  3. use a binder reinforcement to place on top of nail, placing the end of it (closer to the tip of your nail) wherever you want your new color to start.
  4. carefully paint the bottom half of your nail with another color.
  5. let dry for a few minutes and peel off the reinforcement with a set of tweezers (just to ensure you don't mess your new nails up!
  6. done and done!

The studded manicure above is really simple too - my sister bought microbeads from the craft store and I just haphazardly sprinkled them over my wet nails, let them sit and painted a clear coat over. It would probably look cool to do a design with the beads but I was just anxious to see if it worked :)
P.S. the knuckle ring in the last photo is from Planet Blue.

oh yeah MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE! what are your plans?!
