new year, new light

For my New Years resolution, I'm trying to start saving my money. Which means! Although I believe fashion is most definitely self-expression and beautiful, it really puts a dent in a few things I'm aspiring to do. One being travel Europe while I'm in Portugal for the Spring semester. And two, getting my yoga teacher certification next summer. That being said.... I went to the mall today for two essentials: a raincoat that I was told I needed for Portugal (I leave in 3 weeks!) and a large crossbody purse with a zipper, not posted but I got this, for my travels. I stopped in H&M and "had" to get a few things ;)

raincoat: Platinum/NORDSTROM. tank dress: H&M. socks: Free People. boots: Nine West. necklace: H&M. hat: somewhere on venice beach*

Good thing it's not officially 2011 yet... I will be sticking to my resolution!! Goals, goals, goals.

I'm really excited for NYE, Aaron gets into NY and I am cooking a fabulous dinner for us :) I'll definitely be posting it. I've only started this blog a few months ago on a whim, one night when I was bored out of the blue. It's been SO much fun and I look foward to sharing things with you everyday. Thank you everyone for reading my blog and coming back - it truly makes me smile :)

Don't forget to follow me through my adventures in Portugal !! (I'm sooo exciteeed!)

I wish you all the most excellent and safe NYE's, 2011 will be a very good year ;)

Food Fashion Friends

by: Fleur Wood. I got this book for the holidays from my (lovely!) parents :) Have any of you read it before? Fleur Wood is an amazing Australian designer, who also has a certain passion for food. And loves sharing her time with friends over food and fashion. Kinda like me ;) This is a cookbook, with very elegant recipes to very simple ones. She incorporates a few of her photoshoots throughout the book as well as her tips on how to host (and/or) entertain a fabulous party.

"Just as the flavours and food come from all over the world, so, too, does the sense of fashion and style. There's inspiration from the flea markets of Paris to the vintage fairs of Manhattan; from the villages of rural England to the urban grunge of inner London; from the boutiques of Tokyo to the coastline and harbour of Sydney, which always draw me home." Fleur Wood

Yeah... I might have to make that cake up there for New Years. It's called Rhubarb Meringue Cake. Doesn't it look fantastic? It's either that or Raspberri Cupcakes Pink Champagne & Strawberry Cake. Mmmm. I want to do something very special for my boyfriend with a broken ankle stranded in Arizona (because flights to NY have been crazy since the blizzard). I think this will suffice :)

I'll keep you updated, what are your New Years plans?!

Happy Holidayze

The giveaway I won from Jamie, the author of From Me To You... My new Layla Grayce Fantasy Bracelet, isn't it wonderful! Thanks again, Jamie! :)
(btw* If you haven't visited her blog yet, you must. She is one of the best photographers I've seen yet!)

My camera does funky things, christmas lights :)

My pup loving the little snowfall on Long Island.

My attempt at Marshmallows. I used Joy The Baker's vanilla bean recipe, but added a little food coloring because I was inspired by Cupcakes and Cashmere's peppermint recipe. ;)
I'm still letting them sit so I haven't tried them yet... getting anxious to top them on my hot cocoa...

Happy holidays to alll!! :)
